As part of Folkestone Creative Quarter’s ‘Open Quarter’

The Woodshed will be open on Saturday and Sunday afternoon

1- 4pm 17 & 18th June.

There will be art work for sale, including paintings, ceramics and jewellery. You can also see current, commissioned, work in progress.

The studio is located at the top of Bail Steps, in The Bayle CT20 1SJ

Come along and have a look around!

I’m no longer at Kitty’s Seaside Shop!

It was great to be part of The Old High Street for a while. I’ve made some good friends and really enjoyed working there. The shop was only temporary however, while we were busy making other plans!

Attention is now focused on my new studio (still in Folkestone), which we hope will be ready by November.

I’ll post photos of progress – it’s going to be a brilliant place to work when complete.         In the meantime, I’m still accepting commissions.

Barfrestone Art Exhibition

Valentino carving

Exhibiting some work at Barfrestone Art Exhibition and Sale.

It takes place from tomorrow (Friday) until Sunday. I decided to take Valentino, a wood carving that I made in France a while ago.

A beautiful setting for the exhibition, the Great Barn at Barfrestone Court in the historic village of Barfrestone, Kent (CT15 7JJ). If you go please visit the 12th century Norman church of St Nicholas, step back in time…

Open studios shop photoJune has arrived and with it some wild and windy weather….

it’s also the start of South East Open Studios 2016 (20th Anniversary year) tomorrow, Friday 3rd until Sunday June 19th

Don’t forget – I’m not at the Wood Shed on the Bail Steps as in the guide.

*Warning – please don’t try and drive down the Old High Street (even if your sat-nav tells you to!) – It’s very tricky for cars because it’s narrow, also not very popular with pedestrians!

South East Open Studios

South East Open Studios runs from June 3rd – 19th

I’m taking part for the first time and there’s a slight change of plan!

In the guide and SEOS website (information was submitted in the winter) my address is: The WoodShed, Bail Steps, Folkestone, Kent CT20 1SJ.

However due to delays with planning, my studio isn’t ready! The good news is I’m still working from Kitty’s Seaside Shop and studio –  2 minutes away  in the Old High Street (otherwise known as the Creative Quarter) – hoorah!

You’ll recognise my shop – there will be assorted animals in the window!

By the way, don’t attempt to drive down the Old High Street! You can find parking nearby at Payers Park or down by the harbour.

As well as hopefully visiting me, you’ll find many wonderful shops and studios run by other creatives.

You’ll be spoilt for choice with places to eat too

  • Congo Coffee, run by the lovely Marianne is directly opposite me.
  • Further up the hill: Steep Street Coffee House with amazing cakes and a book shop.
  • Googies Art Cafe is on Rendevous Street
  • Favourite pubs: The Pullman on Church Street; the historic British Lion in The Bayle.
  • The Lime Bar on Tontine Street is a music & chill-out venue with a great atmosphere

And don’t forget to visit The Harbour Arm – Folkestone’s new ‘place to be’!
